Supporting Our Beneficiaries During Nationwide Lockdown – April 2020
April 18, 2020
When South Africa declared a national state of disaster in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to cancel all our classes and other charitable programs. Prior to the 21 days nationwide lockdown, which was implemented on 27th March 2020, we knew this will negatively impact many of our beneficiaries. Many of their jobs were either suspended or terminated. Having no income, it would be disastrous for them and their families. We are thankful that donors came to the rescue! We were able to purchase and stock up 300 bags of maize meal to be delivered to the needy during the period of lockdown. We also delivered other essential items such as cooking oil, brown sugar, eggs, soap and even toilet paper! Our beneficiaries were very thankful indeed! As the lockdown period was extended for another 14 days, and possibly longer for the foreseeable future, Light and Love Home is ready to make more deliveries to Phomolong, Mamelodi in the coming weeks.
